The Unprepared Magic Show That Had Me Pleading For Mercy
Posted By on May 3, 2010
Last week I was shuffling down the street, trying my best to beat a hangover that was holding on for dear life. It was two in the afternoon, yet the cobwebs in my mind were refusing their grip on my sanity. Which is just as well, because what happened next surely destroyed plenty of my neural connections. I passed by this bookstore, and noticed this guy inside beckoning me to come in. Naturally, I complied.
I noticed that he was surrounded by gorgeous women, and he was putting on some sort of magic show. When I walked in, he was doing simple card tricks, and asking people to choose cards, and making them appear in random places. Normal stuff that you learn the first couple days in magic school.
Then this guy started doing these crazy mentalist tricks. He started reading everybody’s minds at once and mixing their thoughts together. He would make up some weird poetry on the spot, and it would incorporate all these people’s deepest, darkest secrets. To say it was strange would be beyond the wildest limits of my capabilities of expression.
After that, he started doing basic illusion tricks. Rabbits out of hats, birds out of shoe boxes, normal stuff that you’d find ads for in the back of popular science. He did make this girl’s bra disappear, which was pretty cool. I don’t think she was too happy, though.
I could only take so much of this before I had to go back outside. It was by far the strangest magical experience I’ve ever come across in my short life. But just as I was about to walk down the street, I heard a voice behind me.
You must study the dark arts! You must explore magic tricks revealed and expose the secrets to all who wish to learn! It is up to you! Of course, I ran away as fast as I could, never to return to that strange place ever again.
